Students in 11th grade have many areas they can focus on while they continue to narrow their college search criteria. Students are encouraged to meet with the Guidance Office in order to help produce an initial search list.
Many students choose to tour campuses in the spring. IC additionally brings in a wide range of college representatives in the fall to meet with students. Be sure to check the calendar outside of the Guidance Office for dates. Sign up is required prior to the event!
All 11th grade students at IC undergo PSAT testing in October, practice SAT testing through Sylvan in January and ACT testing in the winter. Our students are enrolled in testing prep courses as part of their class schedule. Students are additionally encouraged to use other resources available to them to prep for testing at home.
By April our 11th graders are able to make a decision regarding which standardized test they are going to pursue for college applications. Be it the SAT or the ACT, students are responsible for registering for any further testing. Many students take the test in the spring or summer. Registration information can be found under the SAT/ACT link.
Still looking for something to do over the summer? Don’t forget this is a great time to start working on your college application essay!
