February 2023
Dear Immaculate Conception High School Community,
We are officially half-way through the academic year as we enter the second semester and our seniors prepare for the few short months until graduation. This is perhaps one of my favorite times of the year while working in a high school; to see the joy, excitement, and anticipation of the graduating senior class as they prepare for “Life Beyond”. In my nearly decade long tenure at Immaculate I have had the opportunity and privilege to see a number of young men and women work very hard for four-years and go onto graduation and do some pretty remarkable things. I had the opportunity to meet with some of our “young alum” in December and was impressed, but not surprised, by some of the amazing things they were doing. Lawyers, principals, doctors, Grad Students, accountants, and many more shared with pride their experience at Immaculate and the difference the education they received made.
January was an exciting month for many reasons, but chief among them was the arrival and welcoming of our new Director of Institutional Advancement Andrea Adams. Andrea, an experienced professional in marketing and advancement has hit the ground running and has already begun to evaluate our programming and reach out to our constituents. Andrea is supported by Nora Bishop, Director of Alumni Events and Patrick Dyer, our newly appointed Director of Alumni Engagement. With Andrea’s arrival the new administration of Immaculate is intact and complete. And Andrea arrives at the perfect time, just as we are preparing for our newly named Blue and White Gala (formerly the Pride Gala) on May 5th at the Hanover Manor. We hope to see all of our friends, alumni, and supporters there for a night of fun and celebration.
Finally, our Lions and Lady Lions Basketball teams have continued to be a dominant force in Northern New Jersey Basketball. With Coach Jim Salmon at the helm of the Lions program and Coach Jimmy Kreie at the helm of the Lady Lions program both teams advanced to the semi-finals of the Essex County Tournament. The Lady Lions punched their ticket to the Essex County Tournament Finals, where they will play University at Essex County College. The Lions and Lady Lions will continue their seasons in the Non-Public B State Tournament in a few short weeks, watch out for updates on social media.
The Lions continue to be a force both in the classroom and on the court. And they continue this success beyond high school.
Our Lady Immaculate…Pray for Us!
