December 2022
Dear IC Community,
It is truly the most wonderful time of the year. The Christmas season is a magical time for everyone and we are preparing everyday for the birth of Jesus, the reason for the season. December is also very special for our community as we celebrate the feast of the Immaculate Conception on December 8th. We spent our feast day celebrating together, beginning with a beautiful mass for the entire community, doing grade level works of service for the community, which included crafting 36 blankets for the Sisters of Charity and preparing 100 bags of food for the homeless, and meeting with the Sisters of Charity. Though it has been nearly 100 years since the Sisters founded our school, their Charism is still alive and well. As the Sisters shared with the community their Charism is all about service to those in need, something we have embraced wholeheartedly and teach in our school.
The winter months also bring about the winter sports, the Lions Basketball team, the Lady Lions Basketball team, and the Lions Track team are all gearing up for the season. The Lions and Lady Lions have always been traditionally a force to be reckoned with in Essex county and we hope to continue that legacy of success both on and off the court. Please check out the athletics section of our website for the schedule and to stay up to date on the teams’ progress. You can also follow us on social media to get the latest updates and news on our teams and the whole school community. And as always any time you can make it out to a game or meet please do so, our young Lions need all the support they can get.
I want to close by thanking everyone for the tremendous support on Giving Tuesday. We raised, in one day, over $35,000 to continue to support our mission! The generosity and shared vision of all those who support and give to us is simply a gift from God and every gift makes a measurable difference in the education of our students and the service to and with our teachers. I want to also thank our wonderful Board of Trustees, our Faculty and Staff, our parents, and our alumni who all made contributions toward our Giving Tuesday goal.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!
Our Lady Immaculate … Pray for Us!
